Ref. 16570, the third iteration of Rolex’s Explorer II model, replaced the 16550 in the late 1980’s. Its trusty caliber 3185 movement offers 42 hours of power reserve while the brushed stainless steel case provides 100 meters of water resistance. Its fixed 24-hour bezel is also brushed, along with its steel Oyster bracelet. These brushed finishes, and classic 40mm case size, make the 5-digit Explorer II a popular choice among Rolex fans who want a sports model with a little less flash. The 16570 was discontinued in 2011. Note that later versions (roughly 2007-2011) are likely to have engraved rehauts and 3186 caliber movements.
