1974 ROLEX Explorer II Frog Foot – Ref. 1655 aka “Freccione,” “Orange Hand,” or “Steve McQueen” (who, ironically, never wore one). Super clean early MK2 version with original Tritium dial made by Stern and original MK1 bezel. Serial number: 3. 6 million. While McQueen never wore one, the 1655 was actually worn by Sir Edmund Hillary and Reinhold Messner—cool enough for me! Features a newer-dated Oyster bracelet (ref. 78860) and clasp (circa 1995 / W11). End links: “580”. Great overall condition with a beautifully warm patina. Comes with a serviced movement and vintage Rolex box, including a vintage hang tag. Definitely one of the coolest vintage pieces Rolex ever made!
